9 November 2007 - International conference in Rovereto
The annual conference of the Observatory on the Balkans (Osservatorio Balcani) was dedicated to the issue of the memory of the wars. Wolfgang Petritsch took part in the session “21st Century: Memory and oblivion in Europe”.

25-27 October 2007 - Norwegian Academy of Scien and Letters in Oslo
Wolfgang Petritsch took part in a round table conference hosted by the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters. Leading peacemakers (among them Peter Galbraith, Hans Hækkerup, Søren Jessen-Petersen, Lord Owen, Wolfgang Petritsch, General Sir Michael Rose and Thorvald Stoltenberg) discussed broad questions from the scholarly literature on peacemaking.

Wolfgang Petritsch participated in a United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) seminar organized at the UN Palais des Nations in Geneva on the topic of “The New Situation in South East Europe: Needs and Priorities for Economic Integration”.

With Ružica Djindjic and Ivan Vejvoda, Wolfgang Petritsch participated at the public debate “No Magic Wand: On the Way to Properity and Stability in Serbia” organised by the Bruno Kreisky Forum for International Dialogue in co-operation with the Fond dr. Zoran Djindjic

23 February 2007 - European Human Rights Prize for 2006 in Strasbourg
Wolfgang Petritsch has been awarded the European Human Rights Prize for 2006 by Pro Europa European Cultural Foundation. This prestigious award was presented to Petritsch by the Basel-based European Cultural Foundation Pro Europa, which operates under the patronage of the President of the Council of Europe and the European Parliament. The prize was presented at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.

Wolfgang Petritsch participated to the experts seminar organized jointly by the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, the OSCE Conflict Prevention Center and the Renner Institut on “Die Rolle der Internationalen Gemeinschaft und die Zukunft von Bosnien und Herzegowina”.
